Redesigned from the ground up, the latest Theorem-AR app released as part of the latest Theorem-XR rollout enables users to visualize their 3D engineering design data on Android, Apple iOS and Windows devices to meet specific engineering and manufacturing use cases.

The refreshed Theorem-AR app offers an enhanced experience and is helping to improve day-to-day engineering processes for manufacturing companies across the world.

With the simple drag and drop functionality, fully configurable automated CAD data preparation and optimisation, Theorem-AR users only need to prepare their data once for use on any Augmented Reality supported device.

Theorem-AR is part of the wider Theorem-XR product portfolio that offers a range of engineering focused XR solutions for full scale and in context visualization and collaboration, designed to complement existing business process and use cases.

Supporting ARKit, Apple’s Augmented Reality platform for iOS devices, and ARCore, also known as Google Play Services for AR, the Theorem-AR app has been developed to provide the best experiences to work with 3D design data in AR.

What’s new with the Theorem-AR app?

The latest version of the Theorem-AR app comes with a range of modes, enabling engineers to load and track their 3D CAD models supporting a variety of engineering use cases.

With AR viewer, users can place 3D models on recognised surfaces in their real-life environment, such as on the floor or on the table in front of them, which can then be fully interacted with in a floating manner. Alternatively, the image tracking mode enables users to track their digital models against targeted images, which again can be freely interacted with.

3D digital content can also be tracked against physical objects in Augmented Reality. By holding a mobile device nearby, model tracking provides users with the ability to track 3D content against the chosen physical object with an outline of the model that will snap to it on the screen. If the physical model is moved or rotated in person, the 3D content will continue to follow, bringing CAD data to life in the real-world.

Visual Digital Twin…

Using edge detection and ‘snap-to’ functionalities to represent a Visual Digital Twin, engineers can now visually inspect and manipulate their own 3D data in a real-world environment, using tablets and mobile devices. Users can snapshot images, mark them up and save them to their device.

By seeing representations of their 3D data in a spatial context using Theorem-AR, front line workers can better understand their data, and quickly see what needs to be “done” on the physical, saving time and improving quality in inspection, product assembly and service functions.

Theorem have been working the 3D CAD and Visualization data for 30+ years, and now help manufacturing companies get their data into XR, and with the release of the new Theorem-AR app, we are taking the next step to help engineers get their 3D design data on their mobile phones and tablets.
